Service Description
This course is a great opportunity for beginners and experienced embroiderers to learn and explore the beautiful art of hand embroidery with Irene Griffin. Irene is a qualified hand embroidery tutor with over 15 years experience teaching workshops for BA (Hons) Textile Design at Falmouth University. Each month you will be introduced to the classic stitches and techniques from history as well as unique embroidery methods from across the world, such as Japanese Sashiko, Bengali Kantha and Mexican Otomi. In addition, there will be sessions focusing on beading, sequins and 3D work. Alongside the stitches, Irene will show you how to use them for a range of applications such as clothes, soft furnishings and fabric accessories. Join for individual sessions or receive a 10% discount for joining the entire course. Materials will be provided for each session. (Participants will need to bring their own scissors and are welcome to use their own threads and base fabrics). Session 1. Learn the classic embroidery stitches. Session 2.
